Hazardous Chemicals Found

I tried to let the VO direct my editing of the video. I used shots that I saw as informative and had a steady camera. When the voice over said something I tried to show it in my video. Like when talking about the inspector then showing one of the officers at the car, or talking about moving the chemicals and showing the guy moving the containers.

Why I Did What I Did

The segments I used in my video were what I deemed to be the most effective for telling the story. I tried to use a variety of shots in order to make the video visually appealing.

Darin Riley Hazardous Storage

I put the video according to the sequence of events in which they actually happened. I chose many clips of the hazardous material in the can, because they convey a sense of danger, and the audience should see the potential hazard these materials can present. I also chose clips of the agents getting ready to go for the materials, as well as taking them away from the storage unit, because their profession is extremely dangerous and should be communicated to the audience. When putting these pieces together, they told the story in the same fashion that the voiceover was conveying. They were all in sequence, from Trout inspecting the storage, to the agent cleaning it up.

For the first clip, I chose to use something that the local audience could relate to. Then, I just chose clips that best matched what the speaker was saying. For the ending, I wanted to have a nice shot of the storage unit, the guy removing the containers, and the containers in order to sum up what the story segment was about.

Dangerous Materials Found

I selected the shots so that they would correspond with my audio. For instance, when the audio says an inspection occurred. I made sure the video featured an inspection of the materials. By matching the audio with the video, I can communicate the story better for the audience.

Hazardous Waste: Final Cut Video

In my final video, I selected certain segments in order to tell the story in a way that was easy to understand for all audiences. I included clips of the hazardous substances and the people in charge of removing them in order to give my audience a clear visual of the main issue at hand.

Dotray Final Video

For my video, I tried very hard to select images that matched the voice-over. When the voice-over mention Kilgmore Trout and the guy who inspected the storage room, I showed clips of them doing their jobs. I put a lot of footage of the storage room in the beginning when the voice-over was talking about the fertilizer, and I put a lot of footage of the guy moving it out of the storage room when the voice-over was talking about how it was going to have to be moved.

Final Cut Video

I used the footage I did because I felt like it fit well with the voiceover. The story mainly highlighted the illegal substances the person was storing in their garage, so I simply tried to match footage with the voiceover.

I selected these segments to best tell the story to viewers. By matching the audio voiceover with video that corresponds with it, the story becomes easier for viewers to follow. For example, at the beginning of the package the reporter mentions a city building inspector, so I paired a shoot of the inspector on the phone with the reporter’s voiceover. That way viewers can match what they are seeing and hearing, and in this way the entire story becomes easier for viewers to follow along.

I then converted the video using Quick Time Conversion. During this process i created custom dimensions for the video. The custom size of the video is 320 x 180.  I then posted the video onto WordPress.

Enjoy!

Hazardous Material Stored Illegally

I chose the footage that most closely corresponded with what the audio was discussing. I also wanted to choose footage that was as steady and well-shot as possible. A lot of the footage was fairly static, so I also wanted to choose footage that contained movement.
